It’s always the sweetest pleasure being invited to photograph those first days at home with a new baby. Nothing else matters but this tiny little being and the family that they are surrounded by and loved on by.

I met Maddison when I photographed her sister Lexy’s wedding last September, and was all too excited when I received an email from her shortly after regarding newborn photos! Her sweet baby boy Declan was born early April and twelve days old at our shoot. He and his tiny features, soft rolls and bright eyes were oh so photogenic…

TheSchoolSessions-01

This past Sunday, April 12, marked the day of The School Sessions fundraiser. I was honored to join hundreds of other photographers around the world in an effort to raise $200,000 to build a school in Haiti, a movement founded by my friend Jamie Delaine and her husband Randy. 100% of the session fees booked by photographers on this day went straight to this fundraiser and I can’t wait to find out the results. As soon as I blogged about this great cause, a dear friend of mine booked a session for her kids. A few years back, she and her family adopted a sweet little girl from Haiti and their hearts (and support) remain tied to the country.

It’s a lovely thing to have good friends in the same industry. Especially ones who are also mamas of little boys! I was introduced to Julie’s work through a mutual friend and booked her to photograph our new, little family last Fall. At the same time, I asked her to second shoot a few weddings with me and it was so much fun working with her. We became fast friends…I mean, you kind of have to when you’re pumping side by side in the car on a wedding day, with breastfeeding babies back at home.

Recently we met up to swap head shots. It had been nearly two years since I last updated mine and I was due! And rather than find sitters for our boys, we packed them along to hang out together in their strollers while their mamas worked. I knew we might be a little crazy for doing so, but the shoot was a success! Not that I’ll be bringing Isaiah to an engagement shoot anytime soon, though…

Here are a few photos, taken by Julie and edited by me. Thank you so much, Julie! Here’s to more play dates and photo shoots together.
