James and Michelle were married on a gorgeous Fall day by the water at the Brock House in Vancouver. Their day was relaxing and intimate, with just the two of them making up the wedding party. Michelle prioritized their photos and so they shared a sweet first look on the beach, followed by plenty of time for portraits.

They said their I do’s before a sofreye ahgd (wedding spread), as part of a traditional Persian ceremony. Every item stood for something from fertility to light and a mirror was in place to catch the bride’s reflection for the groom. A scarf was held over the two of them as sugar cones were ground above to symbolize sweetness. A beautiful ceremony, followed by much celebration and dancing into the night, which was all too fun to photograph.

To James and Michelle, I’m so thankful I was there to document your first day as husband and wife! Thank you so much for the privilege of being your wedding photographer.

All the best to you two beautiful kids in your new life.ReplyCancel

Just when I’d love for life to slow down a little, it has picked up in more ways than we can keep track of. To name a few, in the last month and a half, we’ve packed up and moved out of our condo, I began shooting weddings again (#6 tomorrow!), and my sister got married (yay!). Because my green card is not yet in, we’ve only half moved into our new house in Washington, while spending the majority of the time back and forth with family in Canada. All while trying to sort out this parenting business. Altogether, it’s an adventure we never thought we’d be taking all at once and on so little sleep!

It’s been a stretch, as someone who loves organization and a plan, to live life so unsettled. While learning to be the best mom possible for Isaiah, I’m also learning how to balance that with running a business. This has been trickier than I had thought. I still don’t have an answer as to how this will or should look, but I’ve come to realize that keeping up with emails, blogging, etc may mean sacrificing a clean house or clean hair…at least for the time being! And I’m oh so thankful to have a husband who helps keep things in perspective and will bring me breakfast in bed once in awhile ;)

Last week we had our first official family photo shoot with thanks to new friend and photographer, Julie Christine. Isaiah’s silly mama scheduled the shoot for the day after his first shots…oops…so baby wasn’t quite his happy self. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned during these past couple months, is to just go with it…and I’m so grateful to have these photos (below) of our family of three.

Anthony and Lexy’s wedding day was one that I was oh so grateful to be a part of. It’s a great thing when your clients really care about their photos – it’s inspiring and liberating and makes the job that much more fun. And to document two people who not only care about each other, but those around them, is a pretty special thing, too.

To the newly married husband and wife, thank you for having me as your wedding photographer! Hope you enjoyed your honeymoon soaking up the sun and each other in Maui. May our paths cross again soon!

The day started off perfectly with getting ready photos of Lexy and her gorgeous girls…made extra lovely by my favourite, Ashley of Wedded Bliss.

They said their I do’s at St. Michael’s in New Westminster and then it was off to Langley for photos and their reception at Redwoods Golf Course.

It’s not every wedding that you have a wedding party as wonderful as this one!

Lexy, you truly made the most beautiful bride…I think your new husband thought so, too.
