Meet my sweet little nephew, Luka Manuel! Whitney and Manolo welcomed him into the world in the early hours of July 1st, and I had the incredible privilege of witnessing and documenting his arrival. Such a crazy wonderful moment, when they first laid their eyes on him. And Whitney, well, she surprised and impressed me throughout her labor! So calm, so strong, and Manolo could still get a smile out of her even towards the end.

Now they’re a family of three, at home and falling in love with their little boy and soaking up his sweetness. He’s quite perfect, from his head of soft hair, to his itty bitty toes. We’re all falling in love with him! Welcome to the family, Luka! Auntie loves you. xo

Stephanie and Marcus married three years ago this month, and I was so lucky as to be their wedding photographer. Now, they’re pregnant and expecting a boy! Such a joy it is to follow along and document a couple’s love story beyond the wedding, and this one is certainly no exception.

Larrabee State Park here in Washington is a place near to their hearts, and I was all too happy to meet up with Stephanie and Marcus and photograph their growing family against such a stunning backdrop (a place that I’ve often visited and loved over the years, as well!). Being by the ocean was refreshing, literally a breath of fresh air, with the heatwave we’ve been experiencing as of late. Smoke from the brushfires had settled in, though it worked in our favor by casting an extra-pretty sunset glow on everything. And speaking of pretty, how gorgeous is this mama-to-be…

Many thanks, Stephanie and Marcus! Can’t wait to hear of the arrival of your little boy.

I get really nervous before an engagement shoot (especially when one of them, in this case the groom, is a photographer!). I wonder how we will mesh, if the light will treat us well, if the elements will allow for and inspire creative, authentic photos that make you feel. So, I pre-visualize, I brainstorm a list of poses that I’ll loosely follow, scout out our location just prior to the shoot, and say a prayer.

Well, Noah and Elise’s engagement shoot in downtown Vancouver just about made my heart burst. It quickly erased any nerves and afterwards, as I drove home from the city with the sun setting behind me, I felt entirely grateful that I get to be their wedding photographer. Noah and Elise aren’t afraid to be authentic, to laugh and to share their love, and their story could be written about in a book. A story of how God brought them together, and that when they met through church, Noah knew in his heart Elise was the girl for him.

They’ll say I do this summer at the Brock House and I can’t wait. Many thanks, Noah and Elise!
