sweep me off my feet

Sunday night and we were driving home from Thanksgiving dinner with family. Full of turkey, butternut squash soup, pie, and thankfulness. Shane asks me if I want to know what we’re doing for our one year anniversary. I had been teasing him about it during the weeks prior, wondering what he was planning, and thereby sort of putting it on him. I only half meant to…I offered to help, really. But he wowed me, doing a stellar job all on his own…

Monday morning we drove the quiet streets into downtown Vancouver and boarded a standby flight on a helicopter bound for Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Shane had booked a night at the gorgeous Empress Hotel on the harbour, and knowing my love of high tea, made reservations for their world renowned afternoon tea. Altogether, I felt a little like I had stepped into my own fairytale…and I couldn’t stop smiling.

The view of Vancouver as we took off made me love this city a little bit more…

Shane got right into it and was a perfect afternoon tea date ;)

When I was young, we would come to Victoria on school field trips and I was always in awe of this grand place…
and to now enjoy it with my husband was such a treat.

We roamed the pretty streets of downtown Victoria where we stumbled upon this. I wanted to bring it home with me and create a styled shoot around it…

Here’s to many more adventures and many more anniversaries to celebrate xo

Oh my gosh, you two are so perfect together.

Way to go, Shane on planning such a great 1-year celebration.

btw, how did you take that shadow shot/who took it from behind you?
Or were you taking a picture of the ground? Mysteries…

What a wonderful anniversary. Great documentation of your romantic adventure on the lovely Victoria. Especially the car with the vintage luggage and the shadow image. The Empress Hotel is a fav of mine and their afternoon tea one of the best.

Loved, loved. and loved your photography from backyard British Columbia wedding that was featured on Style Me Pretty.
