our first anniversary

How does one roll up neatly the contents of an entire year into one small blog post? Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of our wedding. My friend once told me, the first year is hard but the first year is fun. Sometimes there was little fun to be had, but it definitely has been a year of new challenges and new growth, learning what it truly means to love each other. Something I’m sure we’ll be continually learning. It’s also been a year of dreaming for the future, and recognizing the moment. It’s been messy and it has been fun. We’ve developed our own routines, our own quirks and our own languages (yes, plural…). It’s been full of trips: St. Lucia, Tofino, Mexico, Quebec City, Vegas,Virgin Islands, LA, NYC and Manitoba. It’s been learning to share the bed, share the closet, and share coffee duty in the morning. It’s been still going on dates, while also creating a home.

We celebrated yesterday with our families around a generous turkey dinner as our anniversary happened to fall on Thanksgiving this year…and will always fall around it…and I think it’s only fitting since we have so much to be thankful for in our marriage, and the example of love we have in our families.

Today my thoughtful and romantic husband is whisking me away for a quick getaway and speaking of whisking away…I love this photo Kelsey Breanne snapped as we made our getaway one year ago…
