vancouver engagement: ally & ian

It happened on a night when she would have rather stayed at home. In fact she would have, if it hadn’t been for her friend who talked her into coming, if it hadn’t been for their friends’ band playing at a local venue. So she went, dressed down, in support of them. They arrived and were welcomed by an incredibly long line up to the bar…so Ally tucked herself into the line, cutting right in front of Ian. He gave her a friendly hello, one which Ally had to return, and that’s all it took. The long wait gave them the time for conversation and by the end of it, Ian bought Ally a drink and asked for her number. He’d like to take her on a date, he said. They parted ways and the very next day, Ian called and the date was set.

And now, almost three years later, the date is set for Ally and Ian to be married on Bowen Island, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to get to photograph it!

I met Ian and Ally for the first timeĀ at Kitsilano Yacht Club, just before our session.
We sat on the patio, enjoying the warm sunshine, ocean views and getting to know one another…which didn’t seem to take long.

Then their baby, a chocolate Lab named Rebel, joined us and we began at the yacht club…

After an outfit change, we hung out at Spanish Banks, where the light was just right…

Ally and Ian, I could photograph you two all day long…thank you for a most wonderful time. See you in a month!
