queen elizabeth park wedding: vincent & far

Far and Vincent’s wedding day was one that was steeped in tradition and family celebration. It began in Burnaby & Vancouver with two Chinese tea ceremonies, the first of which included games and obstacles for the groom in order to receive the bride. While Far awaited her groom in her traditional red gown, her maids made sure he was well deserving…they put Vincent up to the task of sampling something sweet, something bitter, something salty and something sour, all representing an aspect of married life. A few other obstacles were given, and envelopes of “lucky money” were received, and Vincent was allowed to enter and win his bride!

Far and Vincent, thank you for inviting us to share in your day by documenting the traditions, the celebrations, the love. May your marriage be sweet and Vincent, may you never stop trying to “win” your bride ;) Have a fantastic time in Malaysia!

The  bride and groom served tea, in exchange for blessings, gifts and more “lucky money” while both close and extended
family filled the rooms to witness these traditions…

Once the morning’s events were complete, Far traded her red gown for her white gown…

…and later would trade her white gown for her evening gown…

I love First Looks…and Far & Vincent shared two.

We roamed Queen Elizabeth Park for a few photos…

…and then headed to Olympic Village for a few more…

…before heading back to Queen Elizabeth where the wedding took place at the Celebration Pavilion

The reception kicked off and the day wrapped up at Shiang Garden Restaurant in Richmond…

 Congratulations, you two!

Great shots… I love how happy Far’s dad looks during the white-dress ceremony… just beaming.

How interesting to have 3 dresses and all those traditions… lucky you for getting to be in on all that, Mikaela :)
