From road trips in the country, to navigating the beauty and mountains of Costa Rica, to dreams of further travels, Kelsey and Chad have a love for exploring and adventure. With this in mind, we set out to document the love between husband and wife. Through familiar streets of Winnipeg, Manitoba and then on to Victoria Beach by map, we laughed, we shared and we photographed.
Most of you know by now that Kelsey is my designer – from my website to my wedding. Kelsey is also my cousin, and she’s also my friend and getting to visit and photograph her and her husband is always both a privilege and a treat…

Next month, they’ll celebrate three years of marriage. So as an added touch, Kelsey brought along a couple items from their wedding.

Oh I just love them! Thanks for being troopers the whole day! For following us around the city on foot, then driving two hours to the beach and taking photos in cold lake water! We had such a blast.
Wow Mikaela, some of these pics made me catch my breath, they’re so romantic. I love how you capture that every bit as vividly as some world-famous staged pictures but your subjects are real people who are really in love. I can’t wait to phone you if/when I get married. :)

Mikaela, so impressed that you drove all the way out to WINNIPEG for a photo-shoot… that is the epitome of commitment. Love the shot of them with the balloon and the map, and speaking of the balloon, did it come with that writing on it, or did Kelsey do it herself? The writing looks a lot like your blog’s branding, so I’m guessing Kelsey wrote it? Anyways, love your work and all the details that went into this shot, especially all the different locations.
