There’s something about walking along a beach in the cold, bundled in a coat, scarf and boots. Mist hangs from a grey sky and threatening waves crash onto the shore and just off the beach is a lodge with the promise of a warm fireplace. I’d always wanted to stay somewhere like the Oregon Coast or, say, Tofino, in the winter (or fall would do). Photographing a wedding on the same trip, well that made it all the sweeter.
Shane and I had never spent so much time together in a car all at once. There was the drive to the ferry terminal, and after the two hour sail to Vancouver Island, several more hours down winding roads to the west coast. I decided that Autumn was by far my favourite season on that trip. We kept ourselves entertained by playing Shane’s iPhone on shuffle…every other ‘song’ was a chapter from a business book (only Shane) but we also did some car dancing and Shane kept his wife highly amused by singing to the likes of some old school rap and hip hop, while ‘backing it up’ in the driver’s seat. He pretends to be embarrassed as I laugh
at with him; it seriously gets me every time.
Wedding photos to come soon. And until then…
