Thinking back to last year’s birthday, I know now we barely knew each other, even though at the time we would look at each other and feel as though we’d known each other for months and months. Not just one month. But a lot has happened in a year. A lot of learning of each other and a lot of falling in love with each other as that happened.
I love that we spent your birthday, that rainy day, lying in front of the TV watching The Office. I love that we began the day with making crepes, your mom’s recipe. I had to buy you a mixing bowl because, well, you were a single guy without a lot of baking to do. I love that we ate that delicious Thai food for dinner, at that unassuming, hole in the wall restaurant.
I love that we don’t have to do much in order to have fun. I love that we get to celebrate many more birthdays to come (with more crepes), just like I wrote in your birthday card, only hoping I was right as I wrote those words a year ago.
To my love, my best friend, Happy Birthday!
